Capitol University (CU), formerly known as Cagayan Capitol College, is a non-sectarian, co-educational private academic institution established in 1971. - 1971: Capitol University opened its doors with secondary and tertiary programs in Liberal Arts, Commerce, Education, and Secretarial.
- 1973: Introduced the first Midwifery program in Region X and inaugurated a Maternity Hospital for student practicum.
- 1974-1976: Expanded to include Nautical Studies, Marine Engineering, Forestry, Nursing, and Agricultural Technology programs. The acquisition of M/V Capitol College further strengthened maritime education.
