San Beda University: A Legacy of Faith, Knowledge, and Virtue

A History of Growth and Tradition

San Beda started as El Colegio de San Beda in Arlegui, Manila, offering basic and high school education along with the first two years of a college degree. From a small school to a respected university, it has stayed true to its mission of providing quality education.

The Benedictine monks arrived in the Philippines in 1895, first working in Surigao. Wanting to maintain Catholic values in education during the American colonial period, they established San Beda as a Catholic school.
