Alcaal Group – Angola

The Alcaal Group has established itself as a cornerstone of industrial and agricultural development in Angola. With a strategic focus on sustainable solutions, the group operates across several key sectors including agribusiness, energy, and textiles to enhance the quality of life for its consumers and contribute significantly to the national economy.

Under the leadership of President Dr. Jorge do Amaral, Alcaal Group focuses on adding value to local resources and fostering international partnerships that position Angola as a growing player in the global market.

Textang II: Revitalizing the Textile Sector

One of the most prominent entities within the Alcaal Group is Textang II, a major textile manufacturer located in Luanda. The company is at the forefront of Angola’s industrial resurgence, focusing on the production of high-quality fabrics and cotton yarn.

Key Milestones for Textang II:

  • International Exports: In August 2023, Textang II achieved a significant milestone by completing its first export of cotton yarn to Portugal, marking a new chapter for Angolan manufacturing on the international stage.
  • Cotton Self-Sufficiency: The group is working toward a robust vertical integration strategy. Starting in January 2025, Alcaal Group plans to produce cotton on a large scale across four to five thousand hectares. This initiative aims to achieve self-sufficiency in raw materials for the country within the next few years.
  • Technological Innovation: The facility serves as a reference point for fabric production in Africa, utilizing modern technology to meet the demands of both domestic and international markets.

Agribusiness and Agro-industry

The Alcaal Group’s influence extends deep into the agricultural sector through Alcaal Agroindustria and Alcaal Agropecuaria. These divisions are dedicated to the large-scale production of essential commodities and the implementation of advanced farming techniques.

The group’s agricultural portfolio includes:

  • Commodity Production: Cultivation of cotton, corn, soy, beans, rice, and wheat.
  • Sustainable Management: Integrating multidisciplinary knowledge to overcome logistical and environmental challenges in agribusiness.
  • Regional Impact: Projects such as the Fazenda da Alcaal in Longa, Cuando Cubango, demonstrate the group’s commitment to developing rural areas and creating local employment opportunities.

Strategic Global Partnerships

The Alcaal Group maintains a strong international presence, fostering diplomatic and commercial ties that support its operations. High-level engagements have included:

  • Diplomatic Relations: Visits from the Ambassador of Uruguay and meetings with the President of the Republic of Uruguay, highlighting the group’s role in international cooperation.
  • Global Commerce: Hosted the World President of Marubeni, Masumi Kakinoki, to explore operational growth and collaborative opportunities within Luanda.
  • Market Presence: A consistent participant in major industry events like the Luanda International Trade Fair (FILDA), where the group showcases its diverse range of products and services to global investors.

Vision for the Future

The Alcaal Group continues to expand its footprint through Alcaal Floresta and ongoing investments in energy and infrastructure. By focusing on sustainability and innovation, the group is not only producing goods but also building a resilient economic ecosystem that supports the long-term development of Angola and the wider African continent.
