Subjects and Curriculum

In your journey towards becoming an architect, you’ll delve into various subjects such as Architectural Design, Theory of Architecture, and Building Technology. You’ll also explore Building Utilities, History of Architecture, and Professional Practice. Plus, you’ll learn about Planning, Computer-Aided Design (CAD), and Research Methods specific to architecture. Additionally, topics like Housing and Business Management tailored for architecture applications will round out your education.

Admission Requirements

To qualify for admission, you need to be a high school graduate. If you didn’t finish high school, you can still apply by completing the Alternative Learning System (ALS) and meeting the requirements set by the university. Additionally, you’ll need to pass the College Admissions Test of your chosen university.

Internship Requirement

In the fourth year of the program, students must complete an On-the-Job Training (OJT) at an architectural firm. This gives them a chance to use what they’ve learned in a real-world setting. Typically, universities ask students to write reports about their tasks and learning experiences during the internship. Their supervisors evaluate their performance, and these evaluations are sent to the OJT coordinator. The number of hours required varies by university.

Architect Licensure Exam

After completing a BS in Architecture, graduates must pass the Architectural Licensure Examination (ALE) to become licensed architects in the Philippines. This exam is overseen by the Board of Architecture under the Professional Regulations Commission (PRC). It’s held annually in January.
