History of Holy Angel University
First and foremost, the university opened in June 1933. Don Juan D. Nepomuceno, a prominent businessman, and Fr. Pedro P. Santos founded it initially as Holy Angel Academy. Impressively, it was the first lay-founded Catholic school and the first co-educational Catholic high school in the country. It started with only 78 high school students holding classes in a parish convent.
Following World War II, the institution expanded significantly. By 1961, it changed its name to Holy Angel College. During this period, Don Juan D. Nepomuceno served as its first President. Finally, on December 4, 1981, it achieved its official university status, transforming into the massive educational hub it is today.
