Sayawit: Street Dancing Competition

Sayawit is the centerpiece of the Anilag Festival 2026. The name combines sayaw (dance) and awit (song). Municipal and city contingents perform original choreography set to music. Each team wears festival costumes that reflect their town’s heritage, legends, or local industries. Sayawit is the largest gathering of cultural dance groups in Laguna.

Past winners drew inspiration from their town’s signature festivals. The Cavinti contingent used giant pandan-leaf hats from their Sambalilo Festival as the core costume element. The Victoria team wore duck-egg headdresses and wing-like props to represent their Itik Festival. Cabuyao City’s contingent typically draws from the Batingaw Festival. Performers feature the town’s iconic golden bell motif in their costumes and props.

Other Activities

The Anilag Festival Level-Up 2026 includes several competitions and programs beyond Sayawit. The Hataw Laguna Dance Competition welcomes participants outside the street dance categories. The Lakan at Lakambini ng Laguna crowns the province’s top male and female representatives. A provincial trade fair showcases products from Laguna’s cities and municipalities. The Pilgrimage Tourism Campaign also launches during the festival week.
