Pre-National Qualifying Meet – Tagum City
The Province of Davao del Norte, together with the City Government of Tagum, will host the Pre-National Qualifying Meet from June 4-9, 2023. The objective of this event is to streamline the participation process, reduce the duration of the meet, and minimize expenses while maintaining the level of competition.
The revised format of the Pre-National Qualifying Meet will focus exclusively on team sports to achieve these goals. Sports such as baseball, softball, basketball, football, futsal, sepak takraw, and volleyball will be featured, providing an exciting platform for athletes to showcase their skills and compete for selection to the national championships.
On the other hand, measurable sports like athletics, swimming, and archery will follow the qualifying distance, time, and points set by the Palarong Pambansa, the national championships. This ensures that athletes in these disciplines meet the established standards to secure their qualification for the national event.
Sports that are neither team-based nor subject to specific qualifying criteria will advance directly to the Palarong Pambansa culminating competitions. These sports offer athletes a direct path to the national championships without the need for preliminary qualification.
Overall, the Pre-National Qualifying Meet in Davao del Norte and Tagum City aims to streamline the selection process, enhance efficiency, and provide a platform for talented athletes to compete at the highest level while maintaining the spirit of fair play and sportsmanship.
