SEA V.League: Southeast Asia’s Volleyball Showcase

The SEA V.League is an annual regional volleyball competition for Southeast Asian national teams. Originally launched in 2019 as the ASEAN Grand Prix (women only), it was rebranded as SEA V.League in 2023 when the men’s division was added. The women’s tournament began in 2019, and the men’s began in 2023, with both divisions now held as two-leg round-robin series each year.

Indonesia captured the 2025 title by edging Thailand in a decisive second leg in Jakarta. Vietnam earned silver for the first time, while Thailand finished third.

Recent 2025 Highlights – Men’s Division

Leg 1 took place in Candon City (Philippines, July 9–13). Thailand topped the standings, Indonesia and Vietnam followed, with Cambodia debuting and finishing last. In Leg 2 (Jakarta, July 16–20), Indonesia defeated Thailand in a five-set thriller to clinch the modern title. Vietnam beat the Philippines to secure silver in combined standings.

SEA V.League Challenge (Men’s Qualifier)

The Challenge tournament debut occurred in Phnom Penh (August 30–September 2, 2024), featuring Cambodia, Malaysia, Laos, and Singapore. Cambodia won all its matches and earned promotion to the main men’s division for the 2025 season.

Impact and Significance

The SEA V.League plays a crucial role in raising room-level volleyball standards in Southeast Asia. It serves as a competitive platform for national teams to earn world ranking points and prepare for larger events like the SEA Games, AVC Nations Cup, and FIVB competitions. The inclusion of promotion via the Challenge tournament adds depth and opportunity for emerging volleyball programs.
