What is 4, 8, or 16 pass in digital printing?

In digital printing, you will often hear the words 4pass, 8pass, or 16pass printing options. The number before pass means the required number of printing operations on the same spot before an image is printed completely.

The higher the pass settings the slower the printing speed but results in higher print quality, otherwise it is the opposite. The common setting for tarpaulin printing is 4pass and 6pass.

In some cases, the print quality is also affected by the size of the printhead, type/version of the printhead, amount of nozzle, and size of the nozzle.

Each software that comes with the different ways of setting the number of pass. You may need to consult with your printer supplier to find out how to configure the pass settings.
