Vice President Sara Duterte

Sara Duterte, born on May 31, 1978, is the daughter of former President Rodrigo Duterte. A lawyer by profession, she has been a prominent political figure in Davao City and in national politics.

Political Career

2007–2010: Vice Mayor of Davao City

Served as Vice Mayor of Davao City under her father, then-Mayor Rodrigo Duterte. Her tenure was marked by strong collaboration with local agencies to support urban development and peace efforts.

2010–2013: Mayor of Davao City

Succeeded her father as Mayor and became the first female to hold the position. Her term was known for continuing infrastructure projects and enforcing local order policies.

2014–2015: Political Hiatus

Sara Duterte did not hold any elected political office during these two years. She focused on private practice and personal matters while remaining politically engaged behind the scenes.

2016–2022: Mayor of Davao City (Second and Third Terms)

Returned to the mayoralty and implemented city-wide modernization efforts, health programs, and pandemic response initiatives. Her leadership style emphasized resilience and continuity.

2022–Present: Vice President of the Philippines

Ran and won the Vice Presidency in 2022 under a joint ticket with Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. She also serves concurrently as Secretary of Education, pushing for curriculum reform and improved education systems nationwide.
