Southeast Asian (SEA) Games – Tagum City

The Southeast Asian Games, often referred to as the SEA Games, is a biennial multi-sport event conducted in Southeast Asia. It brings together nations including Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Timor-Leste, and Vietnam.

The inaugural competition took place in Bangkok, Thailand, in 1959, featuring just six sports. Over the years, the roster of sports has expanded to encompass more than 40 disciplines. It holds significant regional importance, drawing thousands of athletes, coaches, and officials to participate. It serves as a platform for Southeast Asian nations to showcase their rich culture, history, and warm hospitality.

The most recent SEA Games occurred in the Philippines in 2019, hosting over 9,000 athletes competing across 56 sports. The upcoming edition is scheduled to be hosted by Cambodia in 2023.

Tagum City has not hosted the Southeast Asian Games yet.
