Chinese New Year 2024
February 9
FreeThe Chinese New Year is known as “春节” (Chūn Jié) in Mandarin Chinese. It is also commonly referred to as “农历新年” (Nónglì Xīnnián), meaning the “Lunar New Year” because it is based on the traditional Chinese lunisolar calendar. The date of the Chinese New Year varies each year, falling between January 21 and February 20, and it is associated with the Chinese zodiac, with each year represented by one of the twelve animal signs. The celebration involves various customs, traditions, and festivities, such as family reunions, feasts, dragon and lion dances, and the giving of red envelopes (红包, Hóngbāo) containing money for good luck.
