Moldova is making history once again as Chișinău Pride 2026 kicks off its landmark 25th edition this week, running from June 16 to June 21, 2026. Organized by GENDERDOC-M, the country’s leading LGBTQ+ advocacy organization, this year’s festival brings together community members, allies, artists, and activists for a powerful week of celebration, dialogue, and visibility.
A Week-Long Celebration of Diversity
The 2026 Pride program is packed with events designed to foster connection and understanding. From June 16 through June 21, attendees can participate in community gatherings, film screenings, panel discussions, art exhibitions, and cultural performances across Chișinău. The festival’s centerpiece is Pride Park, scheduled for June 20 at the Artcore space in the heart of Moldova’s capital — a vibrant outdoor celebration featuring live music, food vendors, and community activities.
The week culminates with the traditional Pride March on June 21, a powerful demonstration of solidarity and equality that has become one of the most anticipated events on Moldova’s social calendar. This year’s march carries special significance as it marks a quarter-century of Pride in Moldova — a remarkable milestone for LGBTQ+ visibility in Eastern Europe.
25 Years of Progress
Since its inception in 2002, Moldova Pride has grown from a small, courageous gathering into a nationally recognized cultural event. Over the past 25 years, the festival has played a crucial role in advancing LGBTQ+ rights in Moldova, challenging stereotypes, and building bridges between communities. Despite facing opposition and challenges along the way, organizers and participants have remained committed to creating a safe, inclusive space for all.
The 25th anniversary edition reflects both how far Moldova has come and the work that remains ahead. With Moldova’s ongoing EU accession process bringing increased attention to human rights standards, Pride 2026 arrives at a pivotal moment for the country’s social development.
