What is Silkscreen Printing?

Silkscreen printing (also called screen printing) is the workhorse of bulk apparel decoration. Each color gets its own mesh screen, ink is pushed through the screen onto the fabric, and the result is a print that gets softer and more characterful with every wash.

It is the most cost-efficient method for orders of 50 pieces and up, especially when designs use a contained color palette. We burn screens in-house at our Tagum branch and run production on automatic presses for volume orders and manual presses for short runs.

  • Best for solid spot colors and bold typography
  • Heaviest ink deposit of any apparel print method
  • Works on cotton, polyester blends, canvas, and most knit fabrics
  • Price-per-piece drops sharply as quantity rises

What We Silkscreen

From corporate polos to PE uniforms, event merch to school shirts. Every garment printed in-house with screen-burned positives and color-matched inks.

Corporate Polos & Uniforms

Embroidered-grade look without the embroidery price tag. Logos on chest, sleeve, or back panel. Common for BPO, retail, F&B, and government accounts.

Most common: 100–500 pcs

Event & Promo T-Shirts

Race bibs, product launches, conferences, family reunions, and political campaigns. Front, back, and sleeve prints at the same per-piece rate.

Most common: 50–300 pcs

School & Org Uniforms

PE shirts, classroom uniforms, department shirts, and org jumpers. We hold approved artwork on file so reorders reprint to match the original batch exactly.

Most common: 200–2,000 pcs

Team Jerseys & PE Gear

Intramural leagues, varsity practice kits, and community basketball/volleyball teams. Numbering on back available as a separate add-on.

Custom Caps & Headwear

5-panel and 6-panel caps printed front and side. We also offer embroidery if your logo has fine detail that won't hold up as a screen print.

Most common: 50–300 pcs

Fabric Compatibility

Silkscreen adheres best to woven and knit fabrics with a smooth, even surface. Here's how it performs on the materials we keep in stock.

Cotton-Poly

Poly-Cotton Blends

Holds ink well with a slightly firmer hand. Slight dye-migration risk on dark blends - we use a low-bleed ink when needed.

Performance

100% Polyester

Printable with special polyester inks that cure at lower temperatures. Holds color sharply but has a lighter feel than cotton prints.

Sturdy

Canvas & Twill

Works on tote bags, aprons, and structured caps. Heavier ink deposit shows well on textured weaves. Some detail loss on very coarse weaves.

Up to 6 Spot Colors Per Design

Each spot color requires its own screen, so design efficiency matters. Most silkscreen logos are 1–3 colors. We stock common Pantone shades and can mix custom colors on request.

If your design is photo-realistic or has more than 6 colors, we usually recommend DTF or sublimation instead - we'll let you know on the quote if a different method fits better.

How Pricing Works

Three factors drive the per-piece price: garment cost, number of print colors, and total quantity. Bigger orders get cheaper per piece because we amortize the screen-burning cost across more units.

The table on the right shows typical price ranges for a 1-color print on a standard cotton shirt. Add ₱30–50 per piece per additional color. Final quotes depend on garment, design complexity, and delivery timing.

Silkscreen Printing FAQs

Common questions about silkscreen printing - process, fabric, durability, and pricing.

What's the minimum order for silkscreen printing?

50 pieces per design. Below that, screen-burning fees make silkscreen uneconomical - we usually recommend DTF or vinyl heat transfer for smaller runs.

How long does silkscreen printing last?

Plastisol inks on cotton routinely survive 50+ wash cycles without cracking or fading. Water-based inks have a softer hand-feel but slightly lower wash durability. We print a wash-care instruction slip with every bulk order.

Can you silkscreen on dark shirts?

Yes - but light inks on dark fabric require a base layer or underbase print, which adds one screen and increases cost slightly. White on black, navy on maroon, and similar high-contrast pairings are very common.

Silkscreen vs DTF - which should I pick?

Pick silkscreen for 50+ pieces with 1–4 spot colors and bold designs. Pick DTF for photo-realistic prints, full-color gradients, or small runs under 50 pieces. We'll recommend the better method in your quote if you're unsure.

Do you provide the blank shirts, or can I bring my own?

Both work. We stock cotton blanks from Yalex, A2Z, Crown, Softex, Blackhorse, and ETC at wholesale. If you bring your own garments, we ask for a 5–10% overage in case of misprints or alignment issues.

What file format do you need for the artwork?

Vector files (AI, EPS, SVG, or PDF) at actual print size are ideal. If you only have a JPG or PNG, we can recreate it as a vector for a small one-time artwork fee. We'll send a printable mock-up for your approval before burning screens.

Nationwide via LBC, J&T Express, Shopee, or Lazada. Local pickup is available in Tagum City, Davao City, and Cagayan de Oro. Production typically takes 5–10 working days after artwork approval; rush orders can be accommodated with a small surcharge.
