The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is set to construct a permanent, stronger replacement for the Bridge of Promise in Batangas City, a vital infrastructure link that serves thousands of motorists daily.
DPWH Chief Dizon personally led an inspection of the existing bridge earlier this year, assessing the structural condition and planning the upgrade. The bridge, which has been a key thoroughfare in the city, sustained damage over time and has required ongoing maintenance to remain safe for public use.
The DPWH is seeking approximately ₱300 million in the 2027 national budget to fund the widening and strengthening of the bridge. The planned improvements aim to make the structure more resilient and capable of handling increasing traffic volume as Batangas City continues to grow.
If funded, the new Bridge of Promise will provide a safer, more reliable route for commuters, businesses, and goods transport — supporting the city economic development and connectivity across the province.
