Quezon City residents received a much-needed boost on Wednesday, June 24, as First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos and Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte led a rice distribution event at the Bagong Pag-asa Covered Court. Each beneficiary walked away with 10 kilos of rice, part of the national government’s continued effort to support Filipino families facing rising costs of living.

The event drew a large crowd of residents from Bagong Pag-asa and nearby barangays, many of whom lined up early in the morning to secure their share. Local government staff and volunteers worked alongside the First Lady and Mayor Joy to ensure the distribution ran smoothly and efficiently.

Bagong Pag-asa, located in the heart of Quezon City, is home to thousands of working-class families who have felt the pinch of inflation over the past year. The rice distribution program, which has been a hallmark of the Marcos administration’s social services initiative, aims to provide direct relief to vulnerable communities across Metro Manila and beyond.

During the event, Mayor Belmonte emphasized that the Quezon City government will continue to partner with national agencies to bring assistance directly to the city’s most affected neighborhoods. “We want to make sure that no Quezon City resident goes hungry. This is just one of many programs we have lined up for our constituents,” she stated.

First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos, who has been active in various social welfare programs since assuming her role, expressed her commitment to supporting Filipino families. She encouraged residents to remain hopeful and assured them that the government is working to address the cost of basic goods.

The rice distribution is part of a broader series of aid initiatives rolled out across Metro Manila this month. Similar events are scheduled in other Quezon City barangays in the coming weeks, targeting thousands of additional families who stand to benefit from the program.

Residents expressed their gratitude for the assistance. Many shared that the 10-kilogram allocation would help feed their families for at least a week, easing their household budgets during challenging economic times.

For updates on upcoming community assistance programs in Quezon City, residents are encouraged to follow the official Quezon City government social media pages and visit their respective barangay halls for announcements.
