The City of Imus held its National Flag Day celebration at the Dambana ng Pambansang Watawat in Imus Heritage Park on June 11, 2026, as part of the broader commemoration of the 128th anniversary of the Battle of Alapan and the first unfurling of the Philippine flag.

The event was led by the Office of the City Tourism and Heritage Officer, in partnership with the Local Scout Council Committee of the Boy and Girl Scouts of the Philippines. Activities included the traditional burning of worn and damaged flags, a ceremony that honors the proper disposal of the Philippine flag in accordance with the Flag and Heraldic Code of the Philippines.

Scout members participated in the flag retirement ceremony, which is a time-honored tradition that teaches young Filipinos about patriotism, respect for national symbols, and civic responsibility. The event also featured flag-raising ceremonies and short historical reflections about the significance of the Battle of Alapan in Philippine history.

The Dambana ng Pambansang Watawat, located in Barangay Alapan 2-B, is a recognized landmark in Imus and serves as a reminder of the city important role in the country struggle for independence. It was here that the Philippine flag was first unfurled after the Battle of Alapan on May 28, 1898.

City officials encouraged residents to participate in future heritage events and to take pride in Imus rich history as the site where the Philippine flag was first raised in victory.
