The Schools Division Office of the City of Meycauayan (SDO Meycauayan) completed extensive preparations for the opening of School Year 2026-2027, with Brigada Eskwela and Oplan Balik Eskwela initiatives mobilized across all public schools in the city.

Following the Department of Education (DepEd) Central Luzon directive, classes officially opened on June 8, 2026, with Meycauayan City schools welcoming thousands of students for the new academic year. As part of the DepEd Central Luzon region, Meycauayan participated in the region-wide effort that mobilized over 201,000 volunteers and generated more than P43.8 million worth of resources on the first day of Brigada Eskwela implementation.

SDO Meycauayan issued Schools Division Memorandum No. 178, s. 2026 establishing the Oplan Balik Eskwela (OBE) Division Task Force, which coordinated monitoring of school readiness and the smooth opening of classes. The task force brought together school administrators, teachers, parents, local government units, and community volunteers to ensure every classroom in Meycauayan was safe, clean, and conducive to learning.

Volunteers across the city participated in classroom repainting, furniture repair, campus cleanup, and landscaping activities. Local stakeholders including barangay officials, parents associations, and private sector partners joined the annual bayanihan initiative, showcasing the strong community spirit Meycauayan is known for.

In line with DepEd Order No. 006, s. 2026, Meycauayan schools implemented strict guidelines on ensuring a safe and motivating learning environment. School administrators conducted health and safety checks, verifying facilities met required standards for the new school year.

Central Luzon recorded 2.85 million enrollees across 5,193 schools for SY 2026-2027, the second highest nationwide. Meycauayan City contributed significantly, with its public elementary and secondary schools reporting strong enrollment numbers backed by community support.

The opening of classes is always a moment of pride for Meycauayan City. Students, teachers, and parents come together to celebrate the start of a new school year, reinforcing education as the foundation of community development. Meycauayan continues demonstrating its commitment to quality education through collaborative efforts between DepEd, the local government led by Mayor Henry Villarica, and the broader community.
