The San Jose del Monte station in Bulacan remains a confirmed part of the Metro Rail Transit Line 7 (MRT-7) project, the Department of Transportation announced, putting to rest earlier reports that the station had been dropped from the approved alignment.

The DOTr clarified that the MRT-7 will operate with all 14 stations as originally planned. “The San Jose del Monte station remains part of the MRT-7 project and has not been removed from the approved alignment,” the DOTr stated.

The first 12 stations of the MRT-7, running from Sacred Heart to North Avenue, are on track to become operational by the second quarter of 2027. The remaining two stations, Tala and San Jose del Monte, are expected to be completed by 2028.

The confirmation is welcome news for residents of San Jose del Monte, the most populous city in Bulacan, who have long awaited improved mass transit connectivity to Metro Manila. The MRT-7 line is expected to significantly reduce travel time between Bulacan and Quezon City, easing one of the most congested commuter corridors in the region.

The MRT-7 project involves the construction of a 22-kilometer railway line from North Avenue in Quezon City to San Jose del Monte in Bulacan. Once fully operational, the line is projected to serve hundreds of thousands of passengers daily, providing a fast, reliable, and affordable alternative to road-based commuting.

For San Jose del Monte, the rail link represents more than just transportation. It is expected to spur economic development, boost property values, and attract new businesses to the area. City officials have expressed optimism that the MRT-7 will transform San Jose del Monte into a major urban hub in the northern corridor of Metro Manila.

The DOTr said works on the MRT-7 remain on track, with construction progressing across multiple segments of the alignment.
