Lucena City beloved annual festival, Pasayahan sa Lucena, has been significantly scaled back for 2026 as organizers cite government austerity measures as the reason for cutting most scheduled activities.

The festival, long considered one of the most anticipated cultural events in Quezon Province, traditionally showcases Lucena City rich heritage, creativity, and community spirit through street dancing, trade fairs, and entertainment. The Pasayahan Lucena 2026 Executive Committee announced the postponement of most events this year.

Reports indicate the decision was driven by the city government push to reduce spending and prioritize essential services. While praised by some as responsible fiscal leadership, others worry about the impact on local tourism and cultural spirit.

Despite the scaled-back festivities, two key events will still proceed: the St. Ferdinand Procession and a sponsored Car Show at the Lucena Government Complex. A Bumper-to-Bumper Carshow, Off-Road Show, and Bike-to-Bike Show are also set at the City Hall complex.

The Pasayahan Festival has been a staple of Lucena City cultural calendar for years, drawing thousands of visitors from across the Calabarzon region. Residents are hopeful the full festival will return in future years.
