After nearly a year of major renovation work, the high-speed railway line between Berlin and Hamburg is finally reopening on Sunday, June 14, 2026. To mark the occasion, Deutsche Bahn is releasing 100,000 tickets at just 14.99 euros for travel between the two cities — available to book from June 12 through June 14.
What is Happening
The 280-kilometer Berlin-Hamburg corridor has been undergoing extensive track upgrades since August 2025. Originally scheduled to finish by the end of April, bad weather pushed completion back by six weeks. Now, with the line reopening, passengers can once again travel between Germany two largest cities in under two hours on ICE trains.
The promotional tickets are valid for travel between June 14 and December 12, 2026, making them a great deal for day-trippers and event-goers.
More Visitors Means More Event Opportunities
Affordable connections between Berlin and Hamburg are great for event organizers. Hamburg calendar is packed with summer festivals, sports matches, and cultural happenings. More visitors means a bigger audience for custom concert merchandise and festival apparel.
Whether you are organizing a music festival at the Stadtpark or a corporate event at the CCH Congress Center, having custom-printed gear ready for attendees makes an impact.
What Travelers Should Know
A few things to note: the 14.99 euro offer runs June 12-14 with tickets valid through December 12. Trains may run slightly slower on some sections while signaling tech is tested. From July 18 to August 14, the Sternbruecke railway bridge replacement in Hamburg will cause reduced service — only one ICE per hour to Frankfurt and Berlin.
Summer Events in Hamburg
With cheap tickets available, here are reasons to visit Hamburg this summer: the Hamburg Summer Festival with live music, Hamburg Towers preseason basketball games, the Hafengeburtstag harbor festival, and local sports tournaments. Planning an event? Make sure attendees leave with custom event shirts and branded merchandise to remember the experience.
