The Parañaque City local government has extended educational assistance to 5,000 college students under its Tertiary Education Financial Assistance Program (TEFAP), providing much-needed support as the school year gets underway.
Mayor Edwin L. Olivarez personally attended the distribution ceremony, reiterating the city government’s commitment to making higher education more accessible to Parañaque residents. Qualified beneficiaries received financial aid ranging from P4,000 to P6,000, depending on their grade average.
“Education is not an expense—it is an investment in the future of our students,” Olivarez said during the event. The TEFAP program is designed to ensure that students can continue their studies regardless of their financial situation.
The assistance is intended to help beneficiaries cover educational expenses including school supplies, transportation, and other academic needs for the current school term. The city government emphasized that the program is part of its ongoing efforts to make higher education more accessible and to encourage students to pursue their academic goals.
This latest distribution follows closely on the heels of another education-focused initiative by the Olivarez administration. Just last week, Mayor Olivarez also distributed free uniforms and shoes to thousands of public school students from Kindergarten to Grade 6 across the city. That project, backed by City Ordinance No. 29 Series of 2025 authored by Councilor Pablo “Pao” Olivarez II, aims to ease the financial burden on parents while encouraging students to attend school with confidence and dignity.
Parañaque City has been ramping up its education support programs in recent years. From scholarship grants to uniform assistance and now tertiary financial aid, the local government continues to prioritize education as a cornerstone of community development.

As the Olivarez administration continues to support Parañaque’s students, initiatives like TEFAP serve as a reminder that investing in education is one of the most effective ways to build a stronger, more empowered community.
