One of the biggest kit stories in Liga MX this year is officially here: Club Deportivo Guadalajara — better known as Chivas — is switching kit manufacturers from Puma to Nike starting July 1, 2026. The move marks only the second time in the club’s history that Nike has produced Chivas jerseys, following a brief collaboration back in 1997.

According to multiple reports, Nike’s deal with Chivas kicks off on July 1, 2026, just in time for the Apertura 2026 season. Long-time front-of-shirt sponsor Akron is expected to remain in place, keeping the familiar Estadio Akron branding on the chest. The new home, away, and third kits are anticipated to roll out around the start of the new season, aligning with the usual mid-year Liga MX release window.

What to Expect from the Chivas Nike Jerseys

The iconic red-and-white vertical stripes are expected to remain the centerpiece of the home shirt — it is the most recognizable identity in Mexican football and Chivas almost never deviates from it. With Nike now on design duty, fans can expect cleaner modern templates, navy or contrast trim on the collar and cuffs, and the Swoosh replacing the Puma cat logo.

The away kit is expected to follow Chivas tradition with a predominantly white base, often carrying green-and-red accents that nod to the Mexican flag — a recurring theme in recent seasons. The third kit is typically where the club experiments most, with darker or alternative colorways for a standout look.

A dedicated goalkeeper kit is also expected as part of Nike’s launch range, usually in a contrasting color such as black, green, or a bright accent shade.

Chivas x Nike: A Historic Partnership Returns

Chivas has been outfitted by Puma since 2016, when the German brand began dressing the Guadalajara side. Before that, the club wore Adidas and Nike (during that brief 1997 stint). The return to Nike signals a major shift in the club’s commercial strategy as they look to capitalize on the growing global interest in Liga MX.

Rumors of the switch had been circulating for months, with leaked images of potential Nike designs appearing on social media as early as late 2025. The official confirmation that Nike takes over from July 1 puts those rumors to rest and opens up an exciting new chapter for Chivas fans.

Pricing and Availability

Expect the usual two-tier pricing structure. The Fan Version is the everyday replica — comfortable, durable, and the best value for matchday and casual wear. The Player Version uses slimmer, performance-grade fabric worn on the pitch, for fans who want the authentic fit.

As the post-World Cup spike in club kit demand hits, popular sizes are expected to sell out fast. Official product listings will appear through Nike’s channels, the Chivas club store, and authorized Liga MX retailers like TUDN Fan Shop and Culto Futbol once the kits officially launch.
