The City Government of Digos, through its Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, actively participated in the 2nd Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) 2026 held on Thursday, June 18, 2026, at 9:00 AM.

The drill, organized by the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) in coordination with the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), aimed to test earthquake response plans, strengthen coordination among national and regional agencies, and assess operational readiness across the country.

As part of the exercise, participants in Digos City practiced the standard “Drop, Cover, and Hold” procedure, followed by organized evacuation to designated safe zones. Schools, government offices, and private establishments across the city joined the synchronized drill.

The DepEd Digos City Division had previously issued memoranda directing all public and private schools in the city to participate in the quarterly earthquake drill, emphasizing the importance of disaster preparedness among students and school personnel.

Digos City, located in the province of Davao del Sur, sits in a seismically active region, making regular earthquake drills essential for community safety. The city government continues to prioritize disaster preparedness as part of its commitment to protecting residents and building a resilient community.

The NSED is conducted quarterly across the Philippines as part of the country’s comprehensive disaster risk reduction program. For more updates on Digos City community events and local news, visit phshirt.com.
