The City Government of Digos participated in the 2nd Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) held on June 18, 2026, reinforcing community preparedness and disaster resilience efforts.
The drill commenced at 9:00 AM with the ceremonial pressing of the button and sounding of the siren, signaling participants to perform the standard Drop, Cover, and Hold procedure. City government employees, together with personnel from various local offices, actively took part in the exercise coordinated by the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO).
The nationwide drill, led by the Office of Civil Defense (OCD), aims to test earthquake response plans, strengthen coordination among national and regional agencies, and assess the overall operational readiness of local government units in the event of a major seismic event.
Digos City, situated in the province of Davao del Sur, lies in an area that is no stranger to seismic activity. Regular drills like the NSED help ensure that both public servants and residents know exactly what to do when a real earthquake strikes — potentially saving lives and reducing injuries.
This marks the second nationwide earthquake drill for 2026, following the 1st Quarter NSED held on March 12, 2026, which also saw active participation from the Digos City Hall community.
The City Government of Digos continues to prioritize disaster preparedness and public safety through regular training exercises, community education campaigns, and investments in emergency response infrastructure.
