The City of Digos in Davao del Sur proudly celebrated its official summer product and industry festival, the Apobay Festival: Summit to Sea, with Malacanan declaring May 8, 2026 as a special non-working day to enable the community to fully participate in the festivities.

Through Proclamation No. 1237, the Palace recognized the Apobay Festival as the city signature celebration, representing Digos City unique identity as a place that stretches from the summit of Mount Apo down to the sea. The name Apobay is derived from Apo (referring to the country highest peak) and Bay (representing the coastal areas of Davao del Sur).

The product-focused festival showcased the best of Digos City agricultural bounty, local delicacies, and homegrown industries. From highland crops grown on the slopes of Mount Apo to fresh seafood from the Davao Gulf, the Apobay Festival highlighted the rich diversity of products that the city offers.

The Summit to Sea theme reflects the city unique geographical position, spanning from the foothills of Mount Apo, the highest mountain in the Philippines, down to the coastal waters of the Davao Gulf. This ecological richness supports a wide range of livelihoods, from farming and fishing to tourism and commerce.

The festival featured trade fairs, cultural performances, culinary showcases, and community gatherings that brought together residents from all barangays across Digos City. Local entrepreneurs and farmers were given the opportunity to present their products to a wider audience, boosting the city economic profile.

The City Government of Digos continues to promote the Apobay Festival as a key driver of local tourism and economic development. The festival not only celebrates the city natural wealth but also strengthens community pride and unity among Digosenos.
