The Youth Development Alliance (YDA) of Zamboanga City convened its first meeting at the PIO media room in City Hall, where youth leaders and stakeholders tackled key programs and initiatives aimed at empowering the city’s young population under the administration of Mayor Khymer Olaso.

Presided over by Sangguniang Kabataan Federation President Councilor CJ Dalipe, the meeting highlighted the presentation of the Local Youth Development Plan (LYDP) 2026-2028, which outlines the city’s priorities for the next three years. The plan focuses on four key areas: health and education, economic empowerment and social inclusion, governance and active citizenship, and global mobilization and agricultural economic empowerment.

Local Youth Development Officer Christian Olasiman presented the completion of several youth programs, including the Zamboanga Youth Media Summit, the 2nd Summer Music Camp, and the PYAP Leadership Workshop. These initiatives have provided young Zamboangueños with opportunities to develop their skills, express their creativity, and build leadership capabilities.

Olasiman also shared upcoming projects that aim to further engage the youth sector. These include the “Speak-Out: Budget-Budget, Paano ka Ginagawa?” transparency initiative, which seeks to involve young people in understanding local governance and budget processes, and the Summer Youth Peace Camp, designed to foster unity and peace advocacy among the city’s youth.

The alliance also officially presented the 58 registered members of the Local Youth Development Council (LYDC), an effort aimed at strengthening youth participation in local governance and decision-making. The gathering was attended by several partner agencies and youth-serving organizations, reflecting a collaborative approach to youth development in Zamboanga City.

With these initiatives, the YDA signals a renewed commitment to investing in Zamboanga’s next generation — equipping young people with the tools, platforms, and opportunities they need to become active contributors to their communities.
