ZAMBOANGA CITY — Job seekers in Zamboanga City received a major boost as the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) brought together employers and applicants during the Trabaho Agad Job Fair held on June 12 at the KCC Mall de Zamboanga Convention Center, coinciding with the celebration of Araw ng Kalayaan (Philippine Independence Day).
The event offered a total of 3,019 job openings from 24 local and five overseas employers, providing Zamboangueño job seekers with access to both local and international employment opportunities — all under one roof.
On-the-Spot Hiring Delivers Results
DOLE-9 Assistant Regional Director Atty. Russel Jallorina expressed optimism about the fair’s outcomes, noting that the agency hopes more applicants will find suitable work through the initiative.
“Kung pwede, lahat sila ma-hire on the spot,” Jallorina said, encouraging job seekers to take available opportunities as stepping stones toward career advancement.
Among those who benefited was Adolf Vincent E. Gabieta, a recent graduate of Zamboanga Peninsula Polytechnic State University, who was hired on the spot during the event — becoming one of the first applicants to secure immediate employment through the job fair.
Connecting Skills with Opportunities
Jallorina emphasized that DOLE ensures job opportunities match job seekers’ skills and qualifications through labor market information and coordination with training institutions. The agency continues to hold job fairs regularly to address employment concerns and connect workers with available opportunities.
The Trabaho Agad initiative reflects the government’s ongoing commitment to strengthening employment pathways for Filipino workers, particularly in regions outside Metro Manila. By bringing employers directly to communities, the program reduces barriers to employment and opens doors for skilled workers who might otherwise lack access to opportunities.
For Zamboangueños seeking work, the job fair served as a reminder that meaningful employment opportunities are within reach — and that government agencies like DOLE and the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) remain committed to helping bridge the gap between talent and opportunity.
