Zamboanga Doctors’ Hospital (ZDH) celebrated its 60th anniversary milestone, bringing together city officials, medical professionals, and community leaders to honor six decades of dedicated healthcare service to the people of Zamboanga City.
Mayor Khymer Olaso and Vice Mayor Beng Climaco graced the celebration held at the hospital, themed “From Care to Commitment, From Healing to Hope.” The event highlighted the institution’s continuing role in delivering quality medical services to Zamboangueños ahead of its official 60th founding anniversary on July 11, 2026.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony was led by Mayor Olaso, Vice Mayor Climaco, and ZDH President Ray Chicombing, followed by a blessing rite officiated by Fr. Jovel Palermo for a memorabilia exhibit honoring the hospital’s founders. City officials also offered flowers in tribute to the pioneering doctors who established the institution.
The founders include former ZDH President Dr. Espiridion Alvarez, Vice President Dr. Gregorio Brillantes, Dr. Reynaldo Reyes, Dr. Miguel Wee, Dr. Felipe Lavina, Dr. Francis Barrios, Dr. Gonzalo Navarro, Dr. Leoncio Noche, and Auditor Roberto Santos — visionaries whose legacy continues to serve the community to this day.
Also present during the celebration were Medical Director Dr. Edwina Cabato, Administrator Jocelyn Canto, Dietary Head Peregrina Dagalea, former Councilor Veepee Elago, and Tetuan Barangay Chairperson Richard Mariano.
As one of Zamboanga City’s longstanding healthcare institutions, ZDH’s 60th anniversary is a testament to the resilience and commitment of the city’s medical community. The hospital continues to play a vital role in providing accessible healthcare services to residents across the Zamboanga Peninsula.
