The Golden State Valkyries have officially launched their 2026 Nike Explorer Edition jersey, and it’s a love letter to the Bay Area. Anchored by the team’s iconic violet colorway, the jersey is woven with design elements that celebrate San Francisco and Oakland basketball culture — and it’s available now.
The Valkyries unveiled both the Nike Explorer Edition (violet) and the Nike Heroine Edition (white) on March 30, with the Explorer Edition hitting shelves at the Golden State Shop in Thrive City on March 31 and online at shop.valkyries.com shortly after.
“Our fans didn’t just ask for a jersey; they asked for a symbol of this new era,” said Valkyries President Jess Smith. “Across every region of the Bay, we’ve seen our Valkyries violet begin to line the streets, a signal that the Valkyries have truly landed. This jersey is our response to that energy. It’s more than a uniform; it’s a reflection of a fan base ready to claim their territory.”
The design details tell the Bay Area story: violet anchors the jersey with a modern, bold look; wing elements beneath the arms nod to the Valkyries’ mythological namesake; lines on the shorts represent cables from the Bay Bridge connecting San Francisco and Oakland; gold infusion on the sides and waistband references the Golden State name; and founding partners Chase and Kaiser Permanente are featured on the front patches.
The jersey also carries a community component. For every Valkyries jersey purchased, Kaiser Permanente will donate $25 to She Plays On, a platform that empowers Bay Area girls to live healthy, active lifestyles on and off the court. The donation applies to jerseys sold in-store or online by Valkyries and Golden State shops between March 1 and December 31, 2026, with funds going to the Golden State Community Foundation.
The Valkyries’ violet has quickly become one of the most recognizable colors in the WNBA, and the Explorer Edition jersey gives fans a way to rep that identity both in the arena and on the streets. The jersey is available now at shop.valkyries.com and at the Golden State Shop in Thrive City.
