The Quezon City government has officially approved a record-breaking P43.3 billion budget for 2026, cementing its position as the top-spending local government unit in the Philippines. The budget, enacted under Ordinance No. SP-3465, S-2025 by the Quezon City Council, reflects a 6.65 percent increase from last years P40.6 billion appropriation.

Mayor Joy Belmonte announced the approval, emphasizing that more than half of the budget is allocated for social services and related programs. The increased funding will enable the city government to allot more resources toward community facilities, education, infrastructure, and economic development programs across the city’s 142 barangays.

With this record budget, Quezon City tops Manila’s P25 billion budget. The significant increase reflects the city’s growing population and the expanding scope of public services needed to serve over 2.9 million residents.

Key priority areas include improvements to public health facilities, expansion of scholarship programs for Quezon City residents, road and bridge construction, and livelihood programs for underserved communities. The budget also allocates funds for climate resilience initiatives and disaster preparedness.

Residents can expect enhanced public services throughout the year, with the city government pledging transparency and accountability in the disbursement of public funds.
