Bislig City in Surigao del Sur has acquired a mobile kitchen — the first of its kind in the province — to strengthen its disaster response and emergency relief operations. The City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) announced the milestone on May 21, 2026, during a blessing ceremony for the new equipment.
Forester Jessril A. Oval, chief of the CDRRMO, said the mobile kitchen will be deployed during typhoons, flooding, earthquakes, fires, and other emergencies to ensure that hot meals can be prepared and distributed quickly to affected residents and evacuees.
“The existence of the mobile kitchen will bring relief for those victims or people affected by different types of disasters and calamities, as this will provide immediate hot meals for the internally displaced persons or victims of disasters,” Oval said.
Capacity and Features
The mobile kitchen can cater to an estimated 1,000 to 3,000 individuals during relief operations. It is equipped with cooking stations, an oven, refrigerator, storage compartments, fire extinguishers, and other essential tools for mobile food service operations. The acquisition came three months after tens of thousands of Bislig residents were displaced by severe flooding caused by continuous heavy rains from a shear line.
