Moscow will host the highly anticipated “Nochnoy Zabeg” (Night Run) on June 20, 2026, marking one of the most unique running events of the season. Organized as part of the city-wide “Leto v Moskve” (Summer in Moscow) program and supported by the Moscow Department of Sport, this nighttime 10-kilometer race offers runners a rare opportunity to experience the capital’s iconic landmarks under the stars.
A Race Under the Night Sky
The Night Run is Moscow’s only mass running event that starts after sunset at 10:00 PM. Participants will follow a scenic route along the city’s most famous embankments. The race begins at Krasnopresnenskaya Embankment near Moscow-City, then winds through Presnenskaya, Krasnopresnenskaya, Smolenskaya, and Berezhkovskaya embankments, plus Kosygina Street. Runners will pass the iconic Ukraina Hotel, the Russian Foreign Ministry building, and Novodevichy Convent before finishing at the Lomonosov Moscow State University square. The time limit is 90 minutes.
History of the Night Run
First held in 2013 at the Luzhniki Olympic Complex with 1,244 participants, the Night Run has grown steadily over the years. The route has expanded from the Big Sports Arena to include major city landmarks, turning the run into an unforgettable experience of Moscow’s nighttime beauty. This will be the largest edition yet, as the event becomes a staple of Moscow’s summer sports calendar.
Registration and Participant Info
Registration is open through the “Begovoye Soobshchestvo” (Running Community) website. Runners need to provide their full name and date of birth as in their passport, along with a valid medical certificate. The first wave of registration has closed, but spots in the second wave (June 17-20) are still available for 4,500 rubles, subject to availability.
Starter Pack and Merchandise
Registered participants can pick up their starter packs between June 18-20 at Bolshaya Cherkizovskaya Street. The pack includes a racing number with timing chip, a timing bracelet, a LED headlamp, a storage bag, and a finisher medal. A signature Night Run T-shirt is available for purchase separately — either online or at the event. For running enthusiasts looking to commemorate the experience, the official event merchandise including branded tank tops, running caps, and moisture-wicking shirts make excellent keepsakes.
Race Day Schedule
June 20 schedule: 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM — starter pack pickup; 11:00 AM to 1:00 AM — finish area and baggage storage open at Moscow State University; 9:00 PM — start area opens at Presnenskaya and Krasnopresnenskaya embankments; 10:00 PM — race start; 11:10 PM — awards ceremony; 1:00 AM — event conclusion.
Getting There
The start area is accessible from Delovoy Tsentr metro station (exits 2 and 4) or Ulitsa 1905 Goda station (exit 1), as well as Moscow-City MCC station (exit 5). The finish area near Moscow State University is best reached from Vorobyovy Gory, Universitet, or Lomonosovsky Prospekt metro stations.
What to Wear
For a night run in June, Moscow’s evening temperatures are typically mild. Lightweight, breathable running gear is recommended. Many participants choose bright or reflective apparel to stand out in the city lights, and the official LED headlamp in the starter pack helps illuminate the path. Themed festival t-shirts, running shorts, and comfortable sneakers are the go-to choice. Whether you’re a seasoned marathoner or a casual jogger, this is a fantastic way to see Moscow from a whole new angle.
