Ateneo Blue Eagles Clinch UAAP Season 88 Men’s 3×3 Basketball Crown

The Ateneo de Manila University Blue Eagles soared to the championship of the UAAP Season 88 Men’s 3×3 Basketball tournament, defeating the FEU Baby Tamaraws in a thrilling finale to claim the title.

Ateneo’s victory capped off a competitive 3×3 tournament that showcased the growing depth of talent across the league’s men’s basketball programs. The Blue Eagles showed poise and clutch play throughout the elimination rounds and into the championship match.

The win adds another piece of hardware to Ateneo’s storied basketball program, which has long been one of the most successful in UAAP history. The 3×3 format, which has gained significant popularity in Philippine basketball thanks to the national team’s Gilas Pilipinas 3×3 program, continues to be an important proving ground for young collegiate athletes.

FEU’s Baby Tamaraws put up a strong fight in the finals, demonstrating why the FEU program remains one of the most respected in the UAAP. The Tamaraws’ run to the championship match highlighted the depth of talent in their roster and the quality of their developmental program.

Earlier in the tournament, the elimination rounds saw intense competition among all eight UAAP schools. Ateneo had to survive a late rally from the UP Fighting Maroons in one of the elimination round games, escaping with a narrow victory that proved crucial in securing their spot in the Final Four.

La Salle also had a strong showing in the tournament, routing Ateneo in one of the elimination games to remain perfect in the standings. Adamson and National University rounded out the Final Four cast, making for an exciting playoff bracket.

The UAAP Season 88 3×3 tournament continues to serve as an important platform for players who may eventually represent the country in international 3×3 competitions, including the FIBA 3×3 World Cup and Southeast Asian Games.
