TCNHS began as a barrio high school with a little over a hundred learners. The timeline below marks the decisions and donations that built the campus it occupies today.
June 1967
The school enrolls its first batch, 68 first year and 54 second year learners, with a small pioneering faculty.
March 1970
The pioneer batch completes secondary education, three years after the school opened.
14 February 1972
A Municipal Council resolution converts the school as enrollment grows. Classes are also held at the old Municipal Gym, now Freedom Park.
1976 to 1977
PTA president Manuel Suaybaguio Jr. leads the effort to obtain a permanent campus lot for the growing student population.
4 October 1982
The school relocates to 20,003 square meters donated by Mr. and Mrs. Climaco Maurillo, the site it still occupies.
19 June 1989
The municipal government donates the site to the Department of Education, Culture and Sports, and the title is issued under Superintendent Prudencio Mabanglo and Mayor Victorio Suaybaguio Jr.
1990s
TMHS is named one of two secondary schools in the Division of Davao for the Engineering and Science Education Project, which introduces Special Science Classes and builds its reputation as a science oriented public high school.
June 1998
City officials complete the conversion as the school continues to expand.
14 February 2006
On its 39th founding anniversary, under Mayor Rey T. Uy and the Department of Education, the school takes its present name and becomes a premier secondary institution in Davao del Norte.
2007
Campus beautification work makes the school a stop for visiting students from other cities and municipalities.
2022
The school community marks 55 years with a foundation anniversary celebration hosted on its official page.

03 Academics
TCNHS delivers the full secondary sequence, from Grade 7 through Grade 12, with specialized programs layered on top of the core curriculum.

The SHS department prepares learners for college and for work, and runs its own online management system for schedules, grades, and records.
The Special Program in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics adds research and statistics, while the Special Program in Foreign Language offers Spanish, Korean, and Chinese Mandarin.
Under the Strengthened Senior High School program that took effect in June 2026, the former STEM, ABM, HUMSS, and General Academic strands are consolidated into two tracks: the Academic Track for learners heading to a degree program, and the Technical Professional Track for learners going into technical work or a TESDA credential. Academic Track learners choose elective clusters based on their target degree. Confirm the exact electives TCNHS will offer with the school registrar before enrolling.

The student body is governed by the Supreme Student Government, and every club reports to it. These are the organizations most often cited on the school profile.
