Baganga, a 1st class municipality located in the southern part of the Philippines province of Davao Oriental, has a population of around 29,000 people (based on the 2020 census). It is situated on the eastern coast of Mindanao and is known for its beautiful beaches, scenic views, and rich marine resources. The Mount Hamiguitan Range Wildlife Sanctuary, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a protected area that is home to various species of flora and fauna, including the Philippine Eagle, is also located in Baganga.
Agriculture and fishing are the mainstays of the town’s economy, with coconut and abaca as the primary crops. Baganga is also a popular destination for tourists, especially those who enjoy outdoor activities such as hiking, swimming, and snorkeling.
