Municipality of Cateel – Davao Oriental

Cateel, located in the eastern part of the Province of Davao Oriental, Philippines, boasts of its beautiful landscapes, white sand beaches, and the majestic Aliwagwag Falls, making it an ideal destination for nature lovers.

The town is accessible by land transportation from Davao City and neighboring provinces. Its rich history and culture are celebrated through various festivals and events throughout the year. The 1st district of the Province of Davao Oriental considers Cateel a 2nd class municipality, and it is the oldest town and the first municipality on the island of Mindanao, serving as the landing zone of the first Spanish settlers.

Organic Act No. 21 converted it into a municipality on 29 October 1903.
