The Davao Region Athletic Association (DAVRAA) 2026 officially opened on February 22 at the Davao del Norte Sports and Tourism Complex in Tagum City, bringing together more than 9,000 athletes, coaches, and chaperons from 11 division contingents across the region.
The week-long competition, which ran through February 28, featured student-athletes from across the Davao Region competing in various sporting events. Tagum City, as host, showcased its world-class sports facilities and the warm hospitality of its people. The opening ceremony was a vibrant display of regional pride, with each delegation marching into the complex amid cheers from supporters.
Local officials expressed pride in Tagum City capability to host such a large-scale regional sporting event. The City Government of Tagum worked closely with the Department of Education and local organizers to ensure the safety and comfort of all participants throughout the competition.
Sports enthusiasts from Davao del Norte and neighboring provinces filled the stands to cheer for their hometown athletes. The event also served as a platform to discover and nurture young sporting talent from the region.
