Philippine apparel sourcing guide
Import apparel from the Philippines to Niger
Buyers importing apparel from the Philippines to Niger can source blank shirts and custom OEM/ODM garments directly from PHShirt. We prepare commercial documentation for the agreed Incoterm and coordinate freight from the Philippines toward Niamey and other commercial centers in Niger. Final duties, permits, labelling, and product-safety obligations should be confirmed with a licensed broker or competent authority before shipment.
Why source apparel from the Philippines?
PHShirt combines export-ready garment production with direct access to established blank-shirt brands. Buyers can source Yalex, A2Z, Crown, Softex, and Blackhorse blanks or commission OEM/ODM runs with custom fabric, sizing, labels, printing, embroidery, and packaging.

Shipping routes and cargo gateways to Niger
Apparel moving from the Philippines to Niger travels by containerized ocean freight through a West African transit seaport, by air cargo into Niamey or a regional airfield, or by road inland from the coast. Niger is landlocked and has no working freight railway of its own, so the final inland leg is by truck. Routing depends on volume, Incoterm, carrier space, and the buyer's nominated forwarder.
Major seaports (ocean container gateways)
Containerized FCL and LCL garment cargo leaves the Philippine terminals, transships through an Asian, Middle Eastern, or European relay hub, and is discharged at a Gulf of Guinea port on Niger's behalf. Because Niger is landlocked, discharge happens at a neighboring coastal seaport and the container then moves inland under customs transit. Ocean is the lowest cost mode and the default for volume apparel orders.
Philippines departure seaports
Origin ports- Davao International Container Terminal (DICT) PHDVO / PHDIC
Modern deep water container terminal in Panabo City on the Davao Gulf, beside the Hijo Industrial Estate and Special Economic Zone. This is the closest loading point for PHShirt production in the Davao and Tagum corridor, with feeder services feeding the trunk lines that sail toward West Africa.
- Port of Manila (MICT and South Harbor) PHMNL
The flagship Philippine container gateway, handling several million TEUs a year. High frequency feeder loops connect Luzon garment factories with the trunk services that sail toward West Africa and the Atlantic coast.
- Subic Bay International Container Port PHSFS
Deep water Freeport container terminal serving Central and Northern Luzon industrial estates, with dedicated expressway access and streamlined customs export dispatch.
- Batangas International Port PHBTG
Alternative deep water container terminal in Southern Luzon serving the Calabarzon export manufacturing zone, with expressway links that bypass Metro Manila traffic.
- Cebu International Port (CIP) PHCEB
Central Visayas container consolidation hub linking garment plants in Mactan and the Cebu export zones with international feeder loops.
Niger transit seaports (Gulf of Guinea)
Transit discharge ports- Port of Cotonou (Port Autonome de Cotonou) BJCOO
The primary maritime gateway for Niger and the head of the Cotonou to Niamey corridor. Before the land border closed in 2023, Niger bound transit cargo made up roughly a third of the port's traffic, and the Port Authority of Cotonou keeps a permanent representative office in Niamey. The channel and container berths run to about 11 to 13 meters of draft.
- Port of Lomé (Lomé Container Terminal) TGLFW
Deep water container port on the Togolese coast and the head of the Lomé to Niamey corridor, an established alternative to Cotonou for Niger bound cargo. The Lomé Container Terminal has a 16.6 meter depth and a 1,050 meter quay.
- Port of Tema (MPS Terminal 3) GHTEM
Ghana's principal seaport, east of Accra, with a 16 meter draft at MPS Terminal 3. Tema runs a dedicated transit terminal and handles cargo for Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger, so it is a viable western Gulf of Guinea option.
- Port of Abidjan (Port Autonome d'Abidjan) CIABJ
The largest container gateway in West Africa, with an 18 meter draft through the Vridi Canal. It serves landlocked Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger, and is the coastal head of the Sitarail corridor toward Ouagadougou.
Major airports (air cargo gateways)
Air freight suits urgent season launches, pre production samples, and time sensitive restocks. Air is far costlier than ocean by weight, but it cuts transit from weeks to days. Shipments connect through Asian, Middle Eastern, or European hubs before landing at Niamey or a regional airfield.
Philippines departure airports
Origin air cargo- Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA cargo) MNL / RPLL
Primary air cargo gateway of the Philippines. Scheduled widebody freighters and passenger bellyhold capacity connect to West Africa directly or through European, Middle Eastern, or North African transshipment points.
- Clark International Airport (CRK) CRK / RPLC
Central Luzon express air logistics center with integrator hubs for express courier networks and round the clock customs export processing.
- Mactan Cebu International Airport (MCIA cargo) CEB / RPVM
Central Visayas air cargo gateway supporting garment exporters across Cebu and the neighboring islands through Asian transshipment connections.
- Francisco Bangoy International Airport (Davao cargo) DVO / RPMD
Southern Mindanao air cargo facility providing bellyhold transfers that feed international flights departing from Manila or Cebu.
Niger arrival airports
Destination air hubs- Diori Hamani International Airport NIM / DRRN
Niger's main international gateway, about 9 kilometers from central Niamey, with two runways and a 3,000 meter main strip. Airlines serving it include Air France, Turkish Airlines, Ethiopian Airlines, Royal Air Maroc, ASKY, Tunisair, and Air Côte d'Ivoire, with direct links to Paris, Istanbul, Addis Ababa, Casablanca, and Ouagadougou. Air freight for Niger normally lands here and then continues by road.
- Agadez Airport AJY / DRZA
International airport serving Agadez, the largest city of northern Niger and a regional trading hub. Regional and seasonal service only.
- Maradi Airport MFQ / DRRM
Airport at Maradi, the main commercial city of south central Niger near the Nigerian border, serving the groundnut and livestock trading belt with domestic and regional service.
- Zinder Airport ZND / DRZR
Airport at Zinder, Niger's third largest city in the east, serving the eastern commercial corridor with domestic connections.
Cargo rail and intermodal corridors
On the Philippine side, cartons reach the terminal by road because the country has no through freight railway for export containers. On the Niger side, rail is not yet a usable mode: a short line between Niamey and Dosso was built between 2014 and 2016 but never entered commercial service and was never joined to the coast, so inland cargo moves by truck for now.
Philippine rail and road drayage
Origin inland leg- Road drayage to the container terminal
The Philippines has no through freight railway network for export containers, so finished cartons move by truck from the production floor to DICT, Manila, Batangas, or Cebu for loading. This is the standard first leg for apparel produced in the Davao and Tagum corridor.
Where a buyer forwarder prefers rail or combined transport on the export side, PHShirt coordinates with the nominated carrier. Review the freight options on the rail transport services page.
Niger rail and the Cotonou to Niamey corridor
Destination inland leg- Niamey to Dosso line (not in service)
Niger's only railway is a 143 kilometer single track line built between Niamey and Dosso from 2014 to 2016. It was inaugurated in 2016 but no regular commercial train has ever run, the link to the Benin network was never completed, and parts of the track are now damaged. Treat it as unavailable for freight planning.
- Cotonou to Parakou line (Benin)
The working railhead nearest to Niger is Benin's metre gauge line from the Port of Cotonou north to Parakou, about 438 kilometers. Plans to extend it onward toward Dosso and Niamey have been proposed for years but are not built.
- Abidjan to Ouagadougou to Niamey regional loop (proposed)
A standard gauge regional railway loop linking Abidjan, Ouagadougou, Niamey, Cotonou, and Lomé is at the planning stage under the African Union PIDA programme, with corridor construction phases provisionally from 2028 onward. It is not built.
