Ukraine’s gaming industry continues to make its mark on the global stage. The Ukrainian Games Festival (UGF) 2026 is officially returning to Steam, running from August 17 to 24, 2026, and it promises to be the biggest edition yet.
What Is the Ukrainian Games Festival?
Founded by publishing agency Palaye in 2022, the Ukrainian Games Festival is the largest annual event dedicated to Ukrainian game development. Held entirely on Steam, the festival brings together major Ukrainian studios and independent developers under one digital roof, giving gamers worldwide a chance to discover and support homegrown talent.
Last year’s festival page attracted over 2.4 million unique visitors from around the world, demonstrating the global appetite for Ukrainian creative content. Previous editions saw early announcements for notable projects like DDoD, The Road of Dust and Sorrow, Valkyrie Iteration, Soul Shuffler, Comix Zero, and Boxville 2.
New Formats for 2026
This year’s festival is introducing several exciting new features. The headline addition is UGF Direct — a special video showcase featuring curated trailers from participating developers, premiering on the first day of the festival. A dedicated shelf on the main Steam page will highlight games launching directly during the festival week.
During the festival week, players can expect discounted prices on Ukrainian games, free demos, wishlist opportunities for upcoming releases, and hands-on access to new titles from both established studios and indie teams.
How Developers Can Participate
Submission of game projects is open until August 1, 2026, and participation is completely free. Developers can submit their projects through the official Ukrainian Games initiative form. There are a few requirements: Steam pages must be complete and free of obvious technical errors, all materials must be properly licensed, and the use of generative AI on store pages is discouraged.
The organizers have also implemented ethical criteria. Games that sell in rubles without justification, have Russian localization without a Ukrainian version, or involve developers continuing cooperation with Russian entities will not be admitted. Exceptions are made for cases where localization was handled by a publisher without the developer’s consent, or for developers currently serving in the Armed Forces.
Why This Matters
The Ukrainian Games Festival is more than a sales event — it is a powerful showcase of Ukrainian creativity and resilience. For the custom apparel and print-on-demand community, events like this represent a growing market for themed merchandise, from gaming-inspired t-shirts to limited-edition festival collections.
As Ukraine’s game dev scene continues to grow, the festival serves as a vital bridge between Eastern European creators and global audiences. Whether you are a gamer, a developer, or a creative entrepreneur looking for the next cultural wave to watch, UGF 2026 is worth marking on your calendar.
