Guangzhou has taken a major leap into the future of transportation. Chinese electric vehicle maker Xpeng has officially begun mass production of its first purpose-built robotaxi at its Guangzhou facility.
The robotaxi is built on the XPeng GX platform, a flagship six-seat SUV architecture. It is Chinas first production-ready, pre-assembled robotaxi model developed entirely in-house, designed from the ground up to operate without a human driver.
The vehicle uses a pure vision autonomous driving system powered by four self-developed Turing AI chips, achieving L4-level autonomy. Xpeng secured an L4 road testing permit in Guangzhou in January 2026 and established a dedicated robotaxi division in March.
According to Reuters, Xpeng plans pilot robotaxi operations in H2 2026, producing hundreds to thousands of units. The goal is fully driverless service with no safety officers by early 2027.
This creates opportunities for branded merchandise and promotional products. Robotaxi companies will need custom uniforms, branded apparel for launch events, and corporate gifts. Guangzhou businesses in the autonomous driving ecosystem represent a growing market for custom apparel and printing services.
