Residents of Malolos City, Bulacan are expressing growing frustration over several abandoned flood control projects in the area that were supposed to protect communities during the rainy season.

Mayor Christian Natividad has raised concerns about the stalled Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) projects, which were intended to address persistent flooding in low-lying barangays across the city. With the typhoon season well underway, locals worry that the incomplete infrastructure leaves them vulnerable to flash floods.

“Our residents have been waiting for these projects to be completed for years,” the mayor said. “Every heavy rain, we see the same flooded streets and affected homes.”

The flood control initiatives were part of a broader Bulacan-wide program aimed at improving drainage and water management in the province most flood-prone areas. Malolos, being the capital city and one of the most densely populated areas in Bulacan, was identified as a priority location.

Community leaders have called on DPWH officials to fast-track the completion of the projects, especially with weather forecasts predicting more heavy rains in the coming weeks. Barangay officials in affected areas have also submitted formal requests for status updates on the timeline of construction.

Residents are encouraged to report any flooding incidents to their respective barangay halls for immediate response and documentation. For more updates on local infrastructure projects, visit phshirt.com.
