The North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) Corporation has announced a major repair project for the Meycauayan Bridge, a critical infrastructure link for the City of Meycauayan, Bulacan, and the thousands of motorists who pass through it daily.
Repair Timeline and Lane Closures
Work on the bridge began with repairs along the right outermost southbound lane. Full lane closures were implemented from March 7 to March 13 to accelerate the repair process. According to NLEX Corporation, the lane closures were scheduled strategically to minimize disruption to the traveling public.
The first lane closure started at 10 p.m. on Saturday, March 7, and ended at 4 a.m. on Sunday, March 8. Another phase began at noon on March 9 and continued through March 13. To ease congestion, all four lanes remained open during weekend rush hours, and a counterflow lane in the northbound section was opened to accommodate affected motorists.
Bypass Routes for Motorists
NLEX Corporation urged motorists to use the East Service Road from Ever Memorial Garden to Libtong as a bypass lane for all types of vehicles affected by the counterflow setup in the northbound lane. The company also advised travelers to check its official social media pages for real-time updates and alternate route information.
Why the Repairs Are Needed
Luis S. Renon, president and general manager of NLEX Corporation, explained that the repairs are essential to enhance road surface quality and address potholes and other defects caused by strong rains. Please expect travel delays while this project is ongoing. We appreciate our customers’ understanding as we complete these works. This short-term inconvenience will result in smoother and safer travel along this stretch of the NLEX, Renon said.
Expected Completion Before Holy Week
NLEX Corporation confirmed that the Meycauayan Bridge improvement project is expected to be completed before Holy Week, ensuring that the thoroughfare is in top condition for the surge of travelers during the holiday period. The timely completion of the repairs is welcomed by residents and business owners in Meycauayan City, who rely heavily on the NLEX for their daily commute and commercial activities.
Meycauayan City, a first-class component city in Bulacan, continues to grow as a commercial and residential hub in Central Luzon. Infrastructure improvements like the Meycauayan Bridge repair are vital to sustaining this growth and ensuring the safety and convenience of the community.
