Panabo City is making its presence felt at this year Davao Regional Athletic Association (DAVRAA) Meet, with the Banana Magnates fielding an impressive 800-athlete contingent ready to compete across multiple disciplines. The delegation carries the pride of the Banana Capital of the Philippines as they go up against 10 other school divisions from across the Davao Region.
Division sports officer Antonio Pasquito Jr. shared that the team preparation blended tune-up games, tournaments, and home-and-away matches to build both skill and resilience. This approach allows athletes to experience different competition environments before facing the official DAVRAA games at the Davao del Norte Sports and Tourism Complex.
Wide talent base across multiple sports
The Banana Magnates roster covers a range of events showcasing grassroots sports development in the city:
- Archery requiring focused training and discipline
- Aerobic gymnastics with strong athlete performances
- Swimming a perennial strength category
- Volleyball teams trained through local leagues
- Wrestling a growing sport with dedicated programs
- Wushu where athletes earned podium finishes
The DAVRAA Meet serves as a qualifying pathway to the Palarong Pambansa the national sporting event for student-athletes.
