The Pasay Voyagers put up a valiant effort but ultimately fell to the Cebu Greats, 82-72, in an exciting Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) Season 8 matchup held at the Cuneta Astrodome in Pasay City. The game, played on June 16, showcased high-energy basketball action in one of Metro Manila most iconic sports venues.

Mark Meneses led the charge for Cebu with an impressive all-around performance, bagging 19 points along with nine rebounds, one assist, one steal, and three blocks. Camillus Altamirano provided solid support with 11 points, two rebounds, three assists, and a steal, helping the Greats secure their third straight victory in the league.

The Cebu Greats won eight of their last nine games to join Biñan Tatak Gel at third place in the South Division standings, both teams sporting identical 10-3 records. The ageless Cebuano hotshot Dondon Hontiveros also contributed 10 markers with four rebounds and one assist for the winning squad.

The game started competitively with Pasay trailing by just three points, 10-13, in the early goings. However, the Greats staged a sizzling 15-5 rally to seize command, 25-18, for good at the end of the first period. Cebu lead peaked at 20 points, 54-34, at halftime, putting the Voyagers in a deep hole.

Pasay fought back in the second half, managing to pull within 11 points at 62-73. But the Greats opened the final quarter with a decisive 7-0 blitz, restoring a huge 80-62 advantage on a floater by Simon Camacho with 6:34 left to play, effectively sealing the outcome.

For the Voyagers, Brian Wendel Hilario and Nico Quinal each scored 14 points in a losing effort as Pasay record fell to 7-6. Despite the loss, the Voyagers showed resilience and determination in front of their home crowd at the Cuneta Astrodome.

The Cuneta Astrodome, located in the heart of Pasay City, continues to be a premier venue for major sporting events in the Philippines. The MPBL has brought professional basketball closer to communities across the country, and Pasay City remains one of the league most passionate basketball markets.
