KIDAPAWAN CITY — The Kidapawan City government conducted a citywide cleanup activity on Friday, June 5, in celebration of World Environment Day 2026 and Philippine Environment Month, drawing participation from all 40 barangays, schools, and various government agencies.
Led by the City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO), the cleanup covered multiple sites across the city, including the Nuangan River and other public areas. CENRO-Head Ann Dulay said they continue to monitor and clean the Nuangan River as part of ongoing environmental efforts.
The activity saw broad community participation with representatives from the Bureau of Fire Protection-Kidapawan, Notre Dame of Kidapawan College, Sangguniang Kabataan-Poblacion, students under the Special Program for the Employment of Students (SPES), and staff from the Environment Management Bureau Region 12 joining in.
“Sa pangunguna ng City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) ay naging posible ang muling paglilinis sa Nuangan River, gayundin sa iba pang mga lugar sa Kidapawan City,” the local government said in a statement.
Dulay urged residents, especially those living near rivers and other public places, to be responsible in disposing of their garbage.
Community Pride and Environmental Stewardship
This kind of community-driven initiative is exactly what builds lasting pride in a city. When residents, students, and government agencies come together to clean and protect their environment, it strengthens the sense of belonging and civic responsibility that makes Kidapawan City a great place to live.
For barangays and organizations looking to promote environmental awareness or organize community events, custom shirts and uniforms are a fantastic way to build team spirit and identify volunteer groups. Whether it’s a cleanup drive shirt for your barangay or matching shirts for your SPES or SK volunteers, having a unified look adds to the sense of purpose and community pride.
World Environment Day, celebrated annually on June 5, is the United Nations’ principal vehicle for encouraging awareness and action for the protection of the environment. The Kidapawan City LGU’s initiative aligns perfectly with the 2026 theme and demonstrates that local action makes a global impact.
