Chess Prodigy Shines at National PRISAA Games
Nick Danuel B. Pabroquez captured a gold medal in chess at the 2026 National PRISAA Games, held May 5-10, 2026, in Bacolod City. The PRISAA (Private Schools Athletic Association) Games is one of the largest annual sports events in the Philippines, bringing together student-athletes from private schools across the country.
Pabroquez victory is a testament to the growing chess talent in Kidapawan City, which has been actively nurturing its youth through various sports and academic development programs supported by the local government.
Mountain Biker Earns Double Podium Finish
Meanwhile, Alyssa Ashley Jalipa delivered an impressive double performance at the UCI Mountain Bike Kabibo Banjak Alegria 2026 International XCO/XCE Continental Series, held at Doña Conchita Lakeview Resort in Surigao del Norte. Jalipa secured 8th place in the XCE Women Elite Category and a bronze medal in the XCO Junior Women Category.
The UCI Continental Series attracts elite and junior riders from across Asia, making Jalipa bronze medal finish a significant achievement for a young athlete representing Kidapawan City on the international stage.
Muaythai Team Dominates Mindanao Leg
In addition, the AKMA Kidapawan Muaythai Team showcased their skills and determination at the 2026 Muaythai Championships – Mindanao Leg, held June 2-6 at Robinsons Place in General Santos City. The team brought home an impressive haul of medals across multiple categories.
Gold medalists included Ryker Acar, Eunice Xydee Recto, Rogelli Monique Porras, and Kian King Bacamante. Silver medals went to Rheinbuer Sales, Kean Vincent Masili, Justin Carl Bautista, Kyla Roquero, Klaven Joe Lucero, Xyril Vaughn Nebres, Aquisha Jaztine Tebia, Hezekiah Costan, Leonard Galozo, Ricardo Nogodula III, and Deniel John Taran. Bronze medalists were Lady Angelline Guhiling and Nehemiah John Rag Rag.
Head Coach Kru Augustus Collado Guhiling was recognized for his unwavering support and dedication in training the team.
City LGU Honors Athletes
The Kidapawan City Local Government Unit honored all the winning athletes during the weekly flag-raising ceremony on Monday, June 15, 2026. Certificates of recognition and cash incentives were awarded to the athletes in acknowledgment of their outstanding performances.
