The DNA Festival returns to Hamburg for its second edition, and this time it is bigger than ever. From June 13 to 15, 2026, the city will transform into a vibrant hub of urban culture spanning three full days of dance battles, street art, live music, and community celebration.
What is the DNA Festival?
Founded by the HipHop Academy Hamburg and Stiftung Kultur Palast, the DNA Festival is Hamburg’s premier celebration of urban culture, bringing together breaking, hip-hop dance, rap, DJing, and street art under one roof. The festival’s motto says it all: “Dance is our language. Attitude is our legacy.”
The weekend kicks off on Saturday, June 13 with preselection rounds at the Kultur Palast Harburg, where dancers and crews compete for spots in the Sunday finals at the iconic Grosse Freiheit 36 venue on the Reeperbahn.
Competition Highlights
2vs2 HipHop Battle: Following the legacy of dance legend Mr. Wiggles, teams battle in knockout rounds during preselection on Saturday. The top 16 teams advance to Sunday’s finals at Grosse Freiheit 36, where they compete in an “All Battles All” format — each team battles three times, collecting rounds and judge scores, until the two strongest teams face off in the final battle for the title and prize money.
Breaking Crew Battle: International crews of 5-8 dancers compete in hard-hitting knockout rounds on Saturday at Kultur Palast. The qualifying crews then face the 2025 champions on Sunday in a round-robin format. First place takes home 10,000 EUR in prize money.
