The Silkworm to Garment Journey

From sericulture to finished apparel, every step is controlled for quality and consistency.

1
Silkworm Cultivation

Bombyx mori silkworms raised on a controlled diet of mulberry leaves in managed sericulture farms.

2
Cocoon Harvesting

Each cocoon yields 300 to 400 meters of continuous silk fiber, carefully unwound and sorted by grade.

3
Fiber Processing

Degumming, spinning, and blending silk with synthetic fibers to achieve target weight and performance specs.

4
Garment Manufacturing

Precision cutting, sewing, and custom branding. Each garment is quality-checked before packing and shipping.

Why Silk for Performance Apparel

Natural protein fiber with properties that synthetic fabrics struggle to match.

Natural Temperature Regulation

Silk keeps you cool in heat and warm in cold. The hollow fiber structure traps insulating air while allowing excess heat to escape, making it ideal for base layers worn across seasons.

Moisture Management

Silk absorbs up to 30% its weight in moisture without feeling damp. The fiber wicks perspiration away from the skin and releases it into the air, keeping the wearer dry during activity.

Hypoallergenic

Natural protein fiber that is gentle on sensitive skin. Silk resists dust mites, mold, and mildew, making it a clean and comfortable choice for all-day wear.

From Silkworm Cocoon to Finished Garment

Silk is one of the oldest and most prized natural fibers in the world. Produced by the Bombyx mori silkworm, silk fiber has unique properties that make it ideal for performance apparel: natural temperature regulation, moisture management, and a softness that synthetic fibers cannot replicate.

The Silkworm to Garment Journey

  1. Silkworm cultivation (sericulture): Bombyx mori silkworms are fed mulberry leaves for 30 to 35 days until they spin their cocoons. Each silkworm produces a single continuous fiber of 300 to 400 meters
  2. Cocoon harvesting: Cocoons are harvested before the moth emerges to preserve the continuous fiber. The fiber is carefully unwound and combined with other fibers to create raw silk thread
  3. Fiber processing: Raw silk is degummed to remove sericin (the natural glue that holds the cocoon together), then spun into yarn. For performance apparel, silk is blended with synthetic fibers (polyester, nylon, spandex) to combine silk’s natural properties with synthetic durability and stretch
  4. Garment manufacturing: Silk-blend fabric is cut, sewn, and finished into base layers, activewear, polo shirts, and luxury apparel. Custom branding (embroidery, sublimation, heat-transfer) applied to every piece

Why Silk for Performance Apparel

  • Natural temperature regulation: Silk keeps you cool in heat and warm in cold. The hollow fiber structure traps air for insulation while allowing moisture to escape. Ideal for base layers worn under heated jackets, ski gear, and outdoor apparel
  • Moisture management: Silk absorbs up to 30% its weight in moisture without feeling damp. This makes silk-blend base layers superior to pure synthetic options for extended wear
  • Hypoallergenic: Silk is a natural protein fiber (fibroin) that is gentle on sensitive skin. No chemical irritants, no static buildup, no odor retention

Silk Blends We Offer

  • Polyester-silk: Used in our silk-weight base layers. Combines silk’s softness with polyester’s quick-drying durability. Weight: 150 grams
  • Nylon-silk: Used in our activewear. Combines silk’s hand feel with nylon’s strength and stretch. Weight: 160 grams
  • Cotton-silk: Used in our premium polo shirts. Combines silk’s drape with cotton’s breathability. Weight: 190 grams

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers about silk fabric sourcing and silk-blend apparel.

What is silkworm silk?

Silkworm silk is a natural protein fiber produced by Bombyx mori silkworms during cocoon formation. Each cocoon yields 300 to 400 meters of continuous filament. The fiber is prized for its softness, strength, natural temperature regulation, and moisture-wicking properties. It has been used in textiles for over 5,000 years.

How does silk compare to synthetic fabrics?

Silk offers natural temperature regulation, moisture absorption (up to 30% its weight), and hypoallergenic properties that pure synthetics cannot replicate. Silk-blend fabrics combine these natural benefits with the durability and stretch of polyester, nylon, or cotton, giving you the best of both worlds for performance apparel.

Do you offer 100% silk products?

We primarily work with silk-blend fabrics (poly-silk, nylon-silk, cotton-silk) because blends offer better durability, stretch recovery, and wash performance for activewear and uniforms. Pure silk garments are available on request for luxury and formal applications. Contact us to discuss your specific requirements.

What silk blends do you offer?

Three core blends: polyester-silk (150g, for base layers), nylon-silk (160g, for activewear), and cotton-silk (190g, for polo shirts and luxury apparel). Custom blend ratios are available for orders of 500+ pieces. Each blend is tested for weight, tensile strength, colorfastness, and pilling resistance.

Can you add our brand logo?

Yes. We embroider, DTF print, or heat-transfer your logo on every silk-blend garment. We create a free digital mockup before production so you can approve the design, placement, and Pantone color match. Logos can be placed on the chest, back, sleeve, or collar.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes. We ship silk-blend apparel worldwide with FOB pricing. We handle freight logistics to Asia, North America, Europe, the Middle East, and Oceania. Lead times depend on order size and destination, but most orders ship within 14 to 21 business days after sample approval.
