The UAAP is as much about school pride on the court as it is in the stands, and Season 88 has given fans plenty of jersey talk to chew on. Inspired by Paul Lukas legendary Uniwatch column, SPIN.ph put together a midseason ranking of the mens basketball uniforms across all eight teams.
Top of the Class: NU Bulldogs
Taking the top spot are the NU Bulldogs, whose partnership with adidas delivered a masterclass in minimalism. The blue-and-gold strip running from the side panels and curving down the shorts is a timeless look that proves less is more.
Top of the Class: UST Growling Tigers
As Season 88 hosts, University of Santo Tomas came to play. Delta Sportswear ditched the tiger print in favor of a Thomasian-inspired design featuring the schools iconic Main Building on the side panels.
Deans Listers: La Salle and UE
La Salle Green Archers stuck with what works. Nike kept it slim and minimal with refined lines on the neckline, armholes, and shorts. Meanwhile, the UE Red Warriors made a bold statement. Anta brought back a vintage 1980s look with the classic UE typeface and simple block red-and-black side panel lines.
Passing Grade: Ateneo and UP
Ateneo Blue Eagles and Jordan Brand kept things nearly identical to last season. UP Fighting Maroons had a rocky start with Pumas original design but scrapped it early for cleaner kits with tribal neckline designs and thick Sablay-colored side panels.
Needs Improvement: Adamson and FEU
Adamson Soaring Falcons finally dropped their vintage look but Antas replacement with wing-shaped side panels wasnt the upgrade fans hoped for. FEU Tamaraws got the wrong shade of green and gold again — the gold looks like highlighter yellow.
The Bigger Picture
Uniforms are more than just fabric — they are a statement of identity. As UAAP Season 89 approaches this September, expect teams to either refine what worked or shake things up entirely. With FEU taking the hosting reins and new Season 89 jerseys likely in the works, the drip is only going to get better.
